“This Earth is ours…”

Author: Nguyen Thi Quy Thao and Nguyen Linh Thu

Surely all of us Vietnamese kids have that song imprinted in our minds. The most wonderful thing in the world is that mother nature has given mankind a beautiful blue planet called Earth. This place has cherished and protected people, giving people the beautiful things of life, of the greatest existence in the history of the universe. And just like that, the industrial revolution developed and people also followed that flow, forgetting the Earth - our friend. The forests are no longer green, but only bare land and hills, the ocean has lost its original blueness and now are filled with plastic waste. As for animals, they are vulnerable: dolphins no longer bobbing up and down freely on the water surface for fear of being taken by humans, seagulls flapping their wings in vain when entangled in the black oil. the kangaroos witnessing their house being burned down in vain. We have inadvertently taken the life of many creatures without realizing that: we need a home, if I love our life, so do animals. And there are many more times when humans unconsciously harm nature. How terrible that situation is! Then again, people themselves have to suffer devastating consequences beyond imagination: forest fires, earthquakes, tsunamis, double disasters, … It's time we spread our arms together to save the green Earth. It's not just me, you but all of us because we are living on the same wonderful roof named Earth, it is not only in the present but also in the future, for the prosperous development of a brilliant civilization.
